May Allah be Pleased with him,

Wathila Ibn[1] al-Asqaa Ibn Abdulozza Ibn Abdyalil al-Laithi al-Kinani, his nickname is Abu Shaddad, he is a companion from the people of Suffa[2]. He was born in a district in Medina in 22 BH[3]. He became blind in his old age, and he is the last companion in terms of death in Damascus. He narrated 26 Hadiths[5] of the Prophet (PBUH), and Abu Idris al-Khoulani and others narrated from him.

One of his narrations to the Prophet (PBUH) is his saying, "One of the gravest lies is to trace the ancestry of a man to other than his father, or to claim that your eye saw what it did not see, or to ascribe to the Prophet (PBUH) what he did not say". Bukhari

He died in Damascus in 83AH at the age of 105 years old.
