If you Aid the Cause of Allah, He will aid you

If you Aid the Cause of Allah, He will aid you

Trans. By Mr. Walid Assfar

Praises be to Allah – praises that would match His blessings and equal His bounties! O our Lord! Praises, as great as your glorious Face and great Sovereignty, be to You. O Lord, the Exalted! I can’t number eulogies as due to You as You eulogize Yourself. I testify that there is no god but Allah Alone, Who has no partner, and that our master and prophet, Muhammad, is His Bond-Servant and Messenger, His chosen one and His dear friend, and the best of the Prophets He ever revealed to. He was sent by Allah to the whole world as a bearer of good tidings and warner. O Lord! Have perpetual blessings upon our master, Muhammad, and upon his kinsfolk till the Day of Judgement. I counsel my sinful soul and you, O Muslims, to fear Allah, the All-High.

Dear bond-servants of Allah! Today I will begin my talk to you with rather normal things known to all of you. For instance, let us suppose that someone is homeless, and in need of a house. He has first to inquire about the sum that should be in his possession to obtain that house. Subsequently, he will exert all efforts to collect that sum. He may stay up the whole night and exhaust his body the daylong, or he may leave his homeland and travel abroad to fulfil that purpose – i.e., collecting the value of that house and satisfying his need.

Likewise, when a young man needs to take a girl in marriage, he has to be aware of the sum of money that should be available at his disposal and to do his utmost to collect that sum in order to realize his aim.

Similarly, when someone is seeking for chiefdom, for leadership or for some high rank he wishes to attain, he has to know the worth that he should acquire or realise such a purpose. Thereafter, he is to fatigue himself days and nights in order to obtain what he is aspiring to.

Aren’t these instances normal, O brothers?

The feeling which is prevalent in this nation, especially among its leaders, is that we are in need of victory, of vengeance against the enemies who harass us, of defending ourselves against the plots of plotters and oppression of oppressors. This nation – especially its leaders and superiors – proclaims that it is critically in need of such victory. Accordingly, it has to inquire about the price that should be made available in order to satisfy this need. And when it knows that price, it should exert steady and true efforts for obtaining it if it really feels – represented by its leaders – that it is in need to be revenged by Allah and that the hands of oppressors should be held back from it. Yet when we look around, we find that tongues pretend this need, and even pretend suffering agony from the acute feeling of this need. However, the price that should be obtained in order to satisfy this need is obvious and self-evident. Allah (The All-Glorified, the All-High) says: “If you will aid (the cause of) Allah, He will aid you, and plant your feet firmly.” [Muhammad, 47:7]. He also says: “If Allah helps you, none can overcome you; if He forsakes you, who is there, after that, that can help you?” [Āl-'Imrān, 3:160]. He also says: “And the unbelievers said to their messengers ‘Be sure we shall drive you out of our land, or you shall return to our religion.’ But their Lord inspired (this Message) to them: ‘verily We shall cause the wrongdoers to perish! And verily We shall cause you to abide in the land, and succeed them’. This is for him who fears standing before Me (on the Day of Resurrection or fears my Punishment) and also fears my threat. ” [Ibrahim, 14:13-14].

So, the need is being proclaimed, pretentious tongues are crying out for that need, and the voices of pretenders are rising to the sky, whereas the price is already defined by the averment of Allah (The All-Glorified, the All-High) which specifies that price: that we should be sincere in supporting the Religion of Allah, that we should be honest in safeguarding the Holy Symbols and injunctions of Allah and that we should be true in revering the Sacred Rites of Allah (The All-Glorified, the All-High). This is the price! Being Most trustworthy to keep His promise, Allah (The All-Glorified, the All-High) has bound His All-Majestic Self to lead those who pay that price of victory.

What should we say, then, when we behold this peculiar situation? Should we say that the leaders of this nation are lying in the alleged need which they are proclaiming? Should we say that they are lying in their alleged desire to be revenged by Allah and to have the hands of oppressors held back from them? Should we say they are liars and are in such a state of humility and debasement like that fellow which has been described by an Arab poet :

“.. And sit back sluggishly, since you will certainly be fed and clothed,”

or should we say they are sincere in expressing their need and desire that the hands of oppressors be held back from them and that the odd stigma of humility and debasement be removed from them? If they are really truthful, why do not they behave like that fellow who is in need of a house and, therefore, moves about eastwards and westwards and does his utmost to obtain it? Why do not they behave as they themselves do when they seek chiefdom or leadership, in which case they never leave any path unpursued or any way not followed, extremely fatiguing themselves, in order to attain the standing they aspire to? If they are really in need to be treated fairly, to be freed from the oppression of oppressors and to have their human rights restored to them – no more, no less – the path is already open before them and the price is strictly defined in the Book of Allah (The Almighty, The All-Glorified).

There is only one reason, out of two, for their behaviour : either they have reached a state in which they have ceased believing in the Words of Allah and, as a result, ceased believing that these Words are the Words of the most veracious Speaker – in which case we would have gone from bad to worse, and our current situation would, however, be rather simple, compared with that queer outspoken unbelief, or they do believe that this is the revelation of Allah and that these are the Words of Allah (The Almighty, the All-Glorified), but their lusts and whimsical desires have overcome them and restrained them from accepting to pay the price charged by Allah, or because they are fervently craving after rotten Western methods and cultural manners which are smelling the world from the farthest part of the Occident to our land.

So, it is either this or that! But to behave as the leaders of this nation do – i.e., to be truthful in believing in Allah and in believing that these Verses, which I have just recited to you, are the Words of Allah; and, nevertheless, to remain indifferent and keep overlooking what is going on – is something quite unreasonable.

The price, O brothers, at which this land could be cleansed of the filth of its nefarious and mean occupiers, the price at which we could restore the Holy Jerusalem into the precinct of Islam, is clearly quoted in the Islamic action marketplace. So, he, who is really truthful, can pay the price, and anyone who ever pays that price will certainly get the goods which Allah (The All-Glorified, the All-High) promises.

The problem is neither that we are unable to face America, nor that this nation does not have the means to confront fierce international forces, (as liars and falsifiers assert).

No, this is not the problem nor it is the barrier which restrains this nation from attaining its rights. The real barrier is that this nation, which is called “Islamic Nation” and whose leaders are supposed to safeguard the Religion of Allah (The All-Glorified, the All-High) has turned away from the Holy Symbols and injunctions of Allah, and refrained from revering, honouring and venerating His sacred rites. In consequence, Islam which is moving onward in the Islamic World has become alien. I won’t say humiliated, Allah forbid. Islam, however, is thus treated by Muslims! Show me any aspect of Islam receiving actual esteem, respect and veneration, as Allah enjoins (and not as a manipulation of Islam) in any part of the Arab and Islamic Wo.

Recently, in one of the biggest nearby Arab Countries, a group of Muslims burst out angrily against a novel in which the novelist, instead of expressing his free opinion, curses the Book of Allah, blasphemes against Allah (The All-Glorified, the All-High) and – what would I say? – compares the Qur’an to excrement, using the vulgar word which you all know. We waited, hoping to see whether there is anyone who would aid that group of Muslims and put an end to that trash; but, on the contrary, we found some people closing the mouths of that Muslim group and backing the liar whose sordidness exceeded that of the Jews and Zionism. We found some people supporting him in the name of freedom! Of course, we have never shut the door to freedom – the freedom of reason and thinking, not the freedom of tongues to utter such filthy words that could not be found save in lavatories.

Yes, O brothers! That fellow, who reviled the Book of Allah (i.e., the Qur’an) and compared it to what I have just told you, has been exalted highly in public. But let the Arab and Islamic World know that it was not that abject fellow who has been exalted highly. It was the International Zionism who has been exalted in the person of a dirty abject fellow – whether this is known or unknown to some people. So, why wondering at what those who have honoured him do?

Where is the support offered to the Religion of Allah? Every day we see articles being composed, novels being written and books being printed, all of which ridicule the Religion of Allah or rig the Islamic law – sometimes in the name of contemporary reading, other times in the name of renovation and development and on some occasions in the name of getting out of the fix of backwardness to the plateau of development.

Except for those who are granted Allah’s Mercy, all grumble at this old-aged religion. So, what would I say, O brothers? Are the leaders of this nation sincere in their allegation that the hands of oppressors need to be held back from them, like that fellow who is in need to a house and, therefore, has got to collect its value? I think the matter is not like that. I think that those leaders neither care about Jerusalem nor about Palestine. They all seek after their personal comfort and security, after their wellbeing and after additional pleasures for themselves. Yes, this is the hard truth! Thus, all words uttered and all speeches produced have come to be an art, a profession, an instrument and a show-off constituting an external frame in which immediate mundane interests are placed. So has Islam itself become: mere a frame with which anyone, if he wishes, can embellish his mundane interests, his desires, his whims and his lusts.

The first generation of Muslims used to dedicate everything to supporting the cause of the Religion of Allah (The Almighty, the All-Glorified) – everything: their possessions, their high standing, their mastership, their strength, their pleasures, their time and all they had. But they have, nowadays, been succeeded by such successors who use Islam as a means in every path: in speeches, in meetings and in various occasions to strengthen their authority, to satisfy more and more of their desires and to realize more and more of their wishes.

In the past, when the anniversary of Isrā’ and Mi'rāj came round, Muslims' hearts used to be rent with zeal for the Religion of Allah (The All-Glorified, the All-High). Consequently, the bounties of this life became at their disposal and were drained off for supporting the cause of Al-Aqsa Mosque. In this way crusaders were previously driven out of Al-Aqsa Mosque. At present, however, you may hear clamorous and uproarious celebrations of the anniversary of Isrā’ and Mir´āj. You may see poets contending with each other in composing their poems and hear some people speaking with matchless eloquence and with peerless rhetoric about Al-Aqsā Mosque and the like. What is the meaning of all that? The meaning is that those people use such facts, such slogans and such religious aspects for their own desires’ sake – and everyone is bearing his own desire with him.

This is our situation, O brothers! If only the hearts of this nation had been pure and filled with devotion to Allah, and the leaders of this nation had devoted all they possess to the service of the Religion of Allah (The Almighty, the All-Glorified) and devoted their lives to honouring the Holy Symbols and the sacred rites of Allah, then – I swear by Allah, save Whom there is no other God – Allah would have unified them, united their word, made power set off in their souls in a way unforeseen by them, instilled fear in the hearts of their enemies and brought them victory. Allah (The Almighty, the All-Glorified) says: “If you aid (the cause of) Allah, He will aid you…” [Muhammad, 47:7].

Having said that, I ask forgiveness of Allah (The All-Great).
