Al-Aqsa Mosque Requires silent Persevering Action On Our Behalf
Trans. By Mr. Walid Assfar
Praises be to Allah – praises that would match His Blessings and equal His Bounties! O our Lord! Praises, as great as your glorious Face and great Sovereignty, be to You. O Lord, the Exalted! I can’t number eulogies as due to You as You eulogize Yourself. I testify that there is no god but Allāh Alone, Who has no partner, and that our master and prophet, Muhammad, is His bond-servant and Messenger, His Chosen One and His dear friend, and the best of the Prophets He haad ever sent. He was sent by Allāh to the whole world as a bearer of good tidings and warner. O Lord! Have perpetual blessings upon our master, Muhammad, and upon his kinsfolk to the Day of Judgement. I counsel my sinful soul and you, O Muslims, to fear Allah, the All-High.
Dear bond-servents of Allāh! Undoubtedly, you are all expecting me to talk about the massacre which is still being waged against innocent people who are cherishing a feeling of security, while the world which cares for the so-called human rights - I won’t say - is watching silently but rather applausively. I think you are all expecting me to talk about this tragedy and to inflame your feelings with enthusiasm or with grievous and woe-exciting pain; but I think I won’t do anythig of that kind. Certainly, O dear brothers, I am also able to compose eloquent, rhetorical and fervid words in describing these crimes which are perpetrated, as I said, against innocent people.
I have enough skill, dexterity and proficiency to compete with those eloquent, rhetorical and elegantly-speaking leaders in this issue; but what may I do, then, to serve righteousness and relieve such adversity from its victims? By depicting such tragedies with his exact and artistic pen, a single sketcher can excite more sentiments than I can do with my eloquent language. Anyone with a portable camera can snap these heart-rending tragedies most precisely and far better than any leader or president can do. But what would cameras do, and what would be the use of eloquent words articulated by speakers with which they fill ears or hearts? This is only a description of the current situation. Description of situations, however, does not stir anything. It does not express a state of honour nor of gallantry in any way. So, what is the need for me too to join in this pictorial talk about those dilemmas?
Of course there is no need to do that. In fact, need calls to refrain from plunging into this useless matter and from harping on this string which will never stir anything. It will only excite tender emotions, and the world does not mind whether they were excited or appeased.
The Western world which is already given to crime does not mind about this tune. Instead, it perhaps wants the Arabs and Muslims to make this tune a replacement for Jihad [ struggling in Allah’s cause ] which is enjoined by Allah (The All-Glorified, the All-High) . I wish those leaders who utter tear shedding words in describing murdered children and in portraying the massacres waged against those innocent people – I wish them to keep silent and, instead of all that talk, to expel the Israeli ambassadors from their countries and recall their own ambassadors, who are abiding in abasement among those criminals' back home. I wish that tongues were held and that an honourable deed spoke out.
Tell me the use of all those words which were said and are still being said by those people who are still harbouring the representation (i.e. embassy) of Israel within their countries? In that case, what would be the value of silence? It would be the most eloquent means of expression if it were covered with that behaviour – i.e.,expelling the ambassadors from the Arab countries and recalling the representatives of the relevant Arab or Islamic countries from Israel, which should be accompanied by tearing up the document of that insulting treaty of peace – that insulting peace – concluded between these people and those. Only in that case will the world set to action. Therefore, I don’t find any reason to plunge into this matter in the manner others do.
Yes, indeed, our Lord (The All-Glorified, the All-High) orders us to accept one kind of peace and warns us against another. He orders us to accept peace when the enemy requests it humbly, submissively and honestly. He says: “But if the enemy incline towards peace, you do (also) incline towards peace, and trust in Allah…” [Al-Anfal, 8:61]. But He warns us against peace if we are to request it humbly and submissively. He says: “Be not weary and fainthearted, crying for peace, when you should be uppermost: for Allah is with you, and will never put you in loss for your (good) deeds.” [Muhammad, 47:35]. But what has actually taken place? The thing that has taken place is that those Arabs, or part of them, have insisted on knocking the door of peace – or rather of surrender, pretending that they are knocking the door of peace – and have taken the first step in this direction, then the second and followed by a third, thus leading to what we may behold now.
Yes, O brothers! The solution is that tongues should be held and other organs should speak out. For such cases Allah (The All-Glorified, the All-High) enjoined Jihad. For such cases, Allah (The All-Glorified, the All-High) orders Muslims to take up arms and accoutrements and get ready for action. He says: “Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power…” [Al-Anfal, 8:60 ]. In such cases, Allah (The All-Glorified, the All-High) orders us to fight. He says: “Allah has purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for them (in return) is the Garden (of Paradise) : they fight in His Cause, and slay and are slain…” [Al-Tawbah, 9:111].
Yes, Indeed! But how peculiar that kind of Jihad is – that kind which Allah (The All-Glorified, the All-High) warns against and which He orders to be replaced by another kind! That peculiar kind of Jihad represents the case when a Muslim chases his brother Muslim. It is the fight of Muslims against their brothers in Islam. It is this unbelievable severance which is taking place in one of our Muslim Arab countries, and even in the name of Islam! The Zionist enemies kill innocent people, evict the rightful owners of land, and insist on defiling Jerusalem and monopolize it for themselves, while the Caller in the Book of Allah enjoins us to stand out against that evil gang. On the other hand, those who allege being Muslims turn their backs to those enemies and transgress limits in killing, slaying , dismembering and evicting their brother Muslims. Yes, this is the real case! And they call their deeds Jihad and proclaim that this is an Islamic action! In such a case, as things are thus confused, why Zionists too don’t call their deeds Jihad? What is the difference between these and those? Why slaying innocents, murdering children, killing parents and evicting the rightful owners of land from their homeland. Why are these deeds not called Jihad, when those who are killed in both cases are Muslims? Here Muslims are slain and there Muslims are slain, too! This is the great crisis which is taking place in the Islamic world, O brothers! Our Lord (The Almighty, the All-Glorified) enjoins Jihad on us and orders us to fight aggressors. He says : “Fight in the Cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah does not love aggressors.” [Al-Baqarah, 2:190]. This Ayah Qur'anic Verse and the like are applicable to those criminals and to their supporters, too. Nevertheless, those who are hoisting up the banner of Islam fight other Muslims who do not fight them at all, while Allah (The All-Glorified, the All-High) orders us not to wage an internecine war even against unbelievers. Instead, we are ordered to argue with them, or rather to talk to them and even to call them to the Religion of Allah. Thereafter, if they become red-eyed with rancour and transgression, we should outfight them. Why, then, Muslims are slain here and there, while the Muslim world is watching without any reaction – or rather, the world which falsely alleges caring for human rights is watching the even with applause?
O brothers! The key to solving this problem is to take an inevitable step – i.e., a resort of the Arab World (and, subsequently, of the Islamic world) to a sort of a true unity, not to a false one. However, such unity will never be established except on only one principle – i.e., believing in Allah, returning to Allah in penitence and swearing fealty to Allah (The All-Glorified, the All-High). In that case, all differences will disappear, all separating denominations will dissolve and only one doctrine will prevail – i.e., true slavery to Allah (The All-Glorified, the All-High) – and unity will somehow be born in one of its genuine forms. If this unity has been achieved, the second step will be nothing but Jihad. However, some people would argue that we are too weak to face America. Our reply is that they have become too weak to face America because America and other countries were able to disunite them, and when they return back to unification with each other and become one whole again and when the basis of this unification be love among brothers, then neither America nor the whole world will be able to change love among brothers into hatred. And when unity is restored in one of its genuine forms, no other nation can confront them. Our servility first took place when our hearts adored the goods of this life, when we wandered astray on the crooked paths which Allah (The All-Glorified, the All-High) warns us not to follow and when we overlooked the wide way which Allah orders us to follow. He says: “ Verily, this is My Way leading straight: follow it; follow not (other) paths : they will scatter you about from His (great) Path thus does He command you, that you may be righteous.” [Al-An’am, 6:153].
Finally, I don’t like to talk too much, and I wish that there were just a few sentences to replace this lengthy speech of mine, because we live in an era in which we are badly in need of silence and persevering action, since consumable talk is another plague added to those already befalling us.
Having said that, I ask forgiveness of Allah (The All-Great).
